Now, I'll be the first one to admit that I love cycling in the summer and I much prefer riding in the warmth to riding in the cold.
However............. when the air is clear and peaceful, the days are short, and the sun is low, there is something very special about riding in the winter.
Maybe it's because the racing season is behind me and, with next years races far enough away for me not to have to think about them, I can ride my bike purely for the pleasure of, well, riding a bike.
Or maybe it's because riding in the winter makes me appreciate summer riding all the more. But whatever the reason, winter riding on a day like this provides calmness and contentment, and I arrive back home feeling renewed.
