Vintage Vendoire

"Sunshine, rolling hills and toe clips"

My love for cycling began in the late 70s and early 80s, so the names I first aspired to were Hinault, Fignon and Kelly, and the brands I coveted were Gitane, Raleigh, Bianchi and Colnago. The bikes I first rode and raced had exposed brake cables, down tube levers and, of course, toe clips and straps. The tubes were slim and the bikes had class.

So I had an idea; what if there was a place where you could ride your vintage bike in a beautiful rolling, empty roads; where for 1 week you only have to think about riding the bike and relaxing? After searching around I couldn’t find a place like this; so I have created it.

It’s called Vintage Vendoire

Put simply; Vintage Vendoire is 7 days of great cycling, great food and great accommodation.
All rides will be fully guided so that you experience the best that this wonderful region has to offer, and the gentle terrain is perfect for vintage gearing and vintage legs!

Vintage Vendoire will be an exclusive week limited to just six people. You can enjoy the week as a couple or on a shared room basis. Single occupancy is available with a surcharge.

To keep you well fuelled all week, breakfast and dinner will be freshly prepared to meet a cyclist’s needs, and we will stop for a road side picnic at lunch time. At the end of the week we will dine in one of the areas finest restaurants where you can reflect on a wonderful week with new found friends

After each ride your bike will be checked over to ensure that it is in tiptop condition for the next day leaving you to shower and relax, either pool side, or in the comfortable accommodation. Of course, group riding looks so much better with matching kit, so you will be provided with a myHill Cycling jersey made just for you.

To make the most of the week you need to have experience of riding at least 80km (50 miles) in one day. This doesn’t have to be 80 hilly kilometres; if you have experience of spending a few hours in the saddle you will be fine. Nobody gets left behind – this is a group ride. Please make sure that your bike is in good working order when you arrive for the week.

The Vendoire region might not be as challenging as the Alps or Pyrenees, but the quiet, rolling roads, and predictable weather more than make up for it. I have cycled in many areas of France, and in my opinion the Vendoire region is ideal for a relaxing week of enjoyable cycling. In fact it is ideal for a Vintage week!
